RÜDESHEIM AM RHEIN | Germany

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The pictures don’t lie, Rudesheim is a very nice, quaint German town that not only has its own Kathe Wohlfahrt, which means it’s Christmas all year round, but also an enviable way to travel to it. Very few towns can afford, much less claim, to have a scenic cable car as an option – if my experience is at all typical I would say it ranks as the best way to reach Rüdesheim, bar none. Once there it’s not hard for the feeling of excitement to continue – it reminded me quite a lot of Rothenburg or Bernkastel-Kues – though to be frank the town is small enough to be covered in an hour or less. After I walked through the fairytale-like Drosselgasse and bought my souvenir wine from Georg Breuer Weingut I felt it was enough and went back the same we came in. Christmas would surely be something in Rüdesheim.
